Hello everyone, and how are you doing today? I hope all is well. I’m doing okayish, this is not the type of post I like writing, but we need to not only bring awareness to paying attention to your animal but also that there is help out there for those needing to help their pet, unlike the owner of this cat featured in my article below.
As most of us cat owners know, cats seem to like to go into small spaces and hide. Cats love boxes sometimes better than the cat toys that came in the box. LOL This little cat quirk can be scary. As for the situation that happened below to this poor cat named George, where he happened to jump into his old human’s clothes washing machine. My anxieties about our cats getting trapped somewhere make me watch our little bastards to the fullest as if they are my kids.
George, on the other hand, seems to have an owner who didn’t much care for the cat, based on the information available online we have about George’s situation. So, that being said, we have a firm opinion about this topic, as you will read further in my article. As a cat parent myself, I couldn’t imagine doing what the owner of this cat did to the poor guy.
George, who, by the picture I have available for him, looks like a kitten or a very young cat (see image above), was doing what cats do: finding and crawling in the small hiding spaces. George, in his catness, was doing just this when his old owner was starting a load of laundry one morning, then left for work, not realizing that George happened to jump into the washing machine during that moment, according to the information available.
Poor George is fighting for his life.
George was then stuck in the clothes washer for the full wash cycle, and the time to be noticed by the owner when he got back from work, which ended up being about 6 hours in total.
George almost died by drowning in the washer due to the owner’s negligence. This poor guy can’t breathe very well, is hypothermic, and has lots of head trauma from head banging around during the wash cycle. George was found 6 hours later by his old owner after coming home from work. The owner was shocked and rushed him to the vet. But then, after learning the level of care George would need, even after being offered help from those who offered to help, the owner surrendered fucking George and walked away. Fucking awful. The fact that the situation George was in was all the owner’s fault.
On top of barely hanging on to life, George was now abandoned by his owner and has no home to go back to at the time of this post. Thankfully, NYC Second Chance Rescue stepped up to give George a second chance at life.
As a cat parent myself who has taken care of a couple of cats with major health issue, including cost out of pocket, and even having to give IV fluids. Both of those fur babies past away with me and my wife was there for one. The other time she sadly missed out due to work not letting her get off to be with our furbaby. I started tearing up as I miss them both all the time, and writing about them was making me think about them. They both had kidney disease. TT.
